OBSCURA
A Photography Retreat for the creators who want to escape the noise, quiet their minds, gain clarity and remember themselves.
November 4-10, 2026
Seville, Spain
12 Spaces Available
"Going to this retreat was everything. It’s one of those things that you can imagine will happen but that until you experience…you don’t know how golden it is. Being around creatives for three days was soul filling. I felt present in the moment and it isn’t often I’m in a space where that happens. I felt challenged. I felt safe. I felt seen and heard. For me the weekend was all about being brave enough to show who you really are. This retreat is a special space to be… filled with so much love, learning and kindness from everyone.”
— MaryBeth Clarke
Think Artist Residency Meets Retreat
Each day we will gather as a group in the morning to connect and chat about our goals for the day.
Each day one of your hosts will lead a workshop, whether thats some creative journalling to help us gain clarity, shooting a session together, intentionally exploring Seville, alternative practices, or a workshop on how to create a series from your own vision.
Each day, you will have a good chunk of time (morning or afternoon) to work on your own project.
Each evening, we will gather again as a group to connect and talk about our day. How we moved forward, how we might have gotten in our heads, how to move forward tomorrow.
Each day we will gather for delicious and nourishing meals, some at our villa, some in local restaurants. All in a space to experience another form of creative expression while continuing to connect with each other.
Each day, we will be vulnerable with each other, we will collaborate, brainstorm and encourage each other to remember we already are who we want to be.
This week is all about YOU. A retreat created for you to dive into who you are and how you want to creatively explore. Workshops and sessions are to help quiet the noise and clear your mind so you can hear yourself again. They are meant to push your boundaries, and to step out of the safe place you’ve allowed yourself to stay in.

“This retreat pushed me in uncomfortable ways. It challenged me in creative ways, and reconfirmed that I am just who I need to be. Some moments took my breath away and some made me laugh till my cheeks ached. So thankful I took the leap. I am better for it!”
— Michelle England
“Deep gratitude for creating a space where I’ve seen myself grow exponentially. The retreat meets every individual where they are at-whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro. By encouraging deep connections and curiosity, acceptance of self and other is at the forefront of the retreat, and thereby allows the creativity to flow ”
— Anna Borcherdt
“"This retreat was better than I could have anticipated. I learned so much, met so many great people and connections, and gained confidence in myself as a photographer. With no expectations, I picked up my camera and started shooting, playing around with the props, analog lens modifiers, and talking to the people who had showed up to model for us. The effect was like a kid getting to play with toys again. I came with no expectations, had so much fun, and left with a bunch of great new images for my portfolio, feeling inspired and creative."
—Mel Hattie
“Unless we bring to our picture something additional, something creative, something of ourselves, our picture does not live”
— Emily Carr
ABOUT YOUR HOSTS
-
DEEDEE MORRIS
Deedee Morris is an awe-inspiring photographer whose work is not only beautifully raw, but is also incredibly honest. She dives in deep with her subjects, getting to know them on a personal and spiritual level, and is then able to capture a single moment that portrays their vulnerable individuality in stunning ways. Her work celebrates family, motherhood, self-understanding, and love of the natural world, all of which are outward expressions of her own values and ambitions. Deedee’s pursuit of authenticity is a rare and powerful experience.

-
SONJA KONING
With her enthusiastic and curious nature, Sonja tends to fall in love with a lot of things. This really has helped her to get to make the best out of every (photo) situation. And allowed her to travel over the world with her camera.
The contradiction of fashion photography, traveling and being surrounded by groups, and country family life is what keeps things balanced out and staying interesting for Sonja. She captures the stories that are already there, or creates ones with her stunning conceptual work. Check out her website!

-
HANNAH FITCH
Hannah has a passion for creating inclusive, supportive spaces for women to gather, exhale and laugh! With her intentional intuition, she makes and sees connections all around her - everywhere! constantly! (can’t seem to shut it off ;)
Hannah lives for sharing experiences with others, learning their unique life stories, laughing until it hurts, wandering down alleyways, popping champagne on boats, and doing it all again the next day.
When she is not exploring, you can find her with a cup of coffee in hand, three cats on her lap - three kids and a husband running around her - discussing the next steps for strategically dismantling the patriarchy, while simultaneously planning her (and your) next travel adventure.
In her next life she plans to be a recurring cast member of Saturday Night Live so she can make even more people laugh.

FAQ’S
Is there a payment plan?
Yes! We can create a plan that works for you. Just ask!
Does the menu consider food restrictions?
Yes! I will be sending out an email to all participants before the retreat so you can let me know any allergies/dietary restrictions you might have.
Where are we staying?
You can check out our beautiful villa here
Where would I fly into?
There is an international airport in Seville, however, if you are flying from Canada, you might find flights more reasonable in terms of length of flight and price, to fly into Madrid and take the train to Seville. If you are coming from within Europe, Seville is your best option.
I only shoot film, can I still come?
Absolutely. Analogue is more than welcome. This is a time to work on what you want to work on.
I’m just a beginner, is that okay?
YES! As long as you are using an SLR camera, and understand the basics of photography, you can attend. This is for all levels and you won’t feel left behind.
I’m only interested in photography for personal expression, not as a business. Is the retreat still applicable?
You bet. This is a creative retreat, not a business retreat.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Once your deposit is paid, seats are transferable but non refundable, minus the deposit.
Why is dinner scheduled so late?
In Spain, eating later is the expectation. Finding restaurants open earlier than 7pm is difficult. Many shops and restaurants also close for siesta which is why most of our lunches are at our villa.
Any other questions?
Feel free to shoot me an email!
